4. A MISSIONARY NEEDS THE POWER OF THE PESO.

After a long letter regarding the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, Paul the Apostle, made mention of a certain collection designed to help to help the saints in Jerusalem. He wrote in I Corinthians 16.1-3, "Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God has prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. And when I come. whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality to Jerusalem."

Lessons learned from these verses are:
1) The local church at Corinth makes and gathers the collection.
2) Weekly collections done on the first day of the week.
3) This collection is not for the local church to use; rather it is for the saints outside Corinth.
4) Other local churches are enjoined to do so.
5) Every one should participate.
6) This collection is forwarded by church authorized representatives to the recipients addressed.

The Apostle Paul commended the Philippian Christians for their generous giving in support of their missionary. He said, "Now ye Philippians know also...no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only...ye sent once and again unto my necessity. Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account." (Phil.4.15-17).

Every peso collected and invested in ministries around the globe will do great works to the spreading of the Gospel of Grace to all peoples.

A Missionary Needs The Power Of Prayer

1. A MISSIONARY NEEDS THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. (click here to read this)
2. A MISSIONARY NEEDS THE POWER OF PURPOSE. (click here to read this)

3. A MISSIONARY NEEDS THE POWER OF PRAYER
After a very busy schedule of preaching and teaching in different locations, our Lord Jesus commanded His disciples to "Pray ye to the Lord of the Harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest." (Matthew 9.38).

The Missionaries are the saved, while every unsaved person, without Christ is a mission field. In the work of missions, the saved must PRAY. He must direct his prayer to the Lord of the Harvest. He must be specific in prayer. He must pray for LABORERS who will toil until the harvest of souls is over.

Here are some facts of the harvest:

1. If there is no laborer, the harvest is a waste.
2. If there are few laborers, little harvest. Still a lot of waste.
3. If the laborers will not harvest now, again much will be wasted.
4. Even if there are many laborers and they do not hasten the work, again much waste will be incurred.
5. If not harvested the soonest, the cults will take advantage of the harvest.

People of God, pray! Pray for more harvesters. Pray for more supportive investors. And last, but not the least, pray for yourself that you will be able to say to God, "LORD, send me."

A Missionary Needs The Power Of Purpose

1. A MISSIONARY NEEDS THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. (click here to read this)

2. A MISSIONARY NEEDS THE POWER OF PURPOSE.

The missionary must have a purpose that directs his life to the fulfillment of his calling. Every saved person has a mission, and every unsaved person is a mission field. The Church of Jesus Christ, the body of Christ, the assembly of saved persons is commissioned to accomplish that mission. The saved must be purpose-driven.

What is the purpose of the saved? What is the purpose of the Church? The acronym GRACE gives the clue. G-glorify God in word and deed. R-reach the people with the Gospel. A-activate the saved through Discipleship Training. C-commitment/promise to fulfill. E-encourage one another to keep on till the mission is accomplished.

A Missionary Needs The Power Of The Holy Spirit

1. A MISSIONARY NEEDS THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

The work of the Lord should not be done in the energy of the flesh. "They that are in the flesh cannot please God." (Romans 8.8). It must be done in the power and leadership of God, the Holy Spirit. "It is not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts." (Zechariah 4.6).

Sons and daughters of God, missionaries of the Blessed Gospel of the Grace of God, let us allow the Holy Spirit to lead us into His Holy Word, that we may obey His Holy Will, and enjoy His Holy Work in us, and through us.

"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8.14).
